GRAMMY®-nominated singer, songwriter, and genre-blending musician Matisyahu has released his eighth full-length studio album, Ancient Child, via SoundOn. Listen here
The 12-track collection features previously released singles, “Son Come Up” (featuring his eldest son LAIVY), “Rockin Tempos” (featuring second eldest son Duvbear), and “Find A Way” alongside the new focus track, the upbeat and dance-ready “Sound Foundation.”
The album artwork was designed by renowned visual artist Andrew Cotton, who created original paintings for Ancient Child and each single. Limited edition prints are also available for purchase.
Ancient Child: A Spiritual and Sonic Journey
“As the sun rises and the Ancient Child is released, I hope it will be the backdrop to a new era for our people and the world. Am Yisrael Chai!” – Matisyahu
On Ancient Child, Matisyahu reconnects with his Jewish identity and spirituality in a world post-October 7th. The record explores questions of history, identity, and destiny through the humility of a child and the wisdom of past generations.
Musically, Ancient Child transcends labels—blending reggae, hip hop, rock, and pop into a sound only Matisyahu can create. With over 20 years of touring and recording experience, he continues to channel hopes, fears, and visions into music that moves both emotion and spirit.
Ancient Child Tour Kicks Off October 11
To celebrate the release, Matisyahu and his full band will embark on the Ancient Child Tour. The 15-date headlining run features longtime friend and collaborator Aaron Dugan as support.
The tour launches October 11 in Buffalo, NY, traveling along the East Coast through October 29. Find tickets here
Festival of Lights & 20 Years of Live at Stubb’s
Following the fall tour, Matisyahu will bring back his beloved Festival of Lights Hanukkah shows:
December 14–15: Brooklyn Bowl (NY)
December 20–21: Miami Beach Bandshell (FL)
These shows will feature two sets each night, including a full-album performance of his breakthrough Live at Stubb’s in celebration of its 20th anniversary, plus hits, fan favorites, and songs from Ancient Child.
New YouTube Series: Live from the Living Room
Alongside the album, Matisyahu has launched a new weekly YouTube series, Live from the Living Room, where he shares the stories behind some of his biggest hits—including “One Day” and “King Without a Crown”—and performs intimate, stripped-down versions from home.
