After more than ten years, Alabama Shakes are officially back with their new single “Another Life”, out now via Island Records. The release marks the band’s first original music since their 2015 GRAMMY-winning album, Sound & Color, and sets the stage for their highly anticipated third full-length LP.
Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios and produced with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett, “Another Life” showcases the band’s signature mix of soul, rock, and blues, elevated by Brittany Howard’s soaring vocals and a searing instrumental crescendo.
Reflecting on the song, Howard describes it as a meditation on the “lives we carry” and the connections that stretch across time, turning goodbyes into “I’ll see you later.”
The release follows the band’s surprise reunion gig in December 2024 at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa, which reignited their creative spark and led to new sessions. With four GRAMMY® Awards, billions of streams, and multiplatinum success under their belt, Alabama Shakes remain one of the most influential rock groups of the 21st century.
The band—Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell – are currently on a major North American tour, headlining amphitheaters, arenas, and festivals, including Bourbon & Beyond, Sea.Hear.Now, Shaky Knees and Mexico City’s Corona Capital Festival.
“Another Life” is available now on all streaming platforms, with more music to follow as Alabama Shakes reintroduce themselves to the world.
