Bob Seger announces final tour, with more tour dates

With a music career that has spanned more than fifty years, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band will soon hit the road for their last and final tour. More dates are begin added to Seger’s previously announced dates, allowing more opportunity for fans to see Seger and his band live. The Travelin’ Man tour begins on November 21 in Grand Rapids. Tickets for the new dates are in Buffalo, New York, Cleveland, Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Peoria, Illinois, and rescheduled shows in Dallas and Houston will go on sale Friday, September 28. Tickets for new dates in Toledo, Ohio, and Nashville, Tennessee will go on sale Saturday, September 29.

Paul McCartney's Egypt Station

Paul McCartney’s Egyptian Station reaches number one on Billboard 200

Paul McCartney’s Egypt Station (Capitol Records) has entered the Billboard 200 at #1, making it the third Non-Beatles/Wings McCartney effort to top the U.S. chart and Paul’s first Stateside #1 since 1982’s Tug Of War. Earning 153,000 equivalent album units, Egypt Station is Paul’s first solo album to enter the chart at #1. Since beginning a new and profound direction on his creative journey with the 1970 release of his debut solo album, McCartney, Paul has sold over 100 million albums and singles worldwide.

The 18-time GRAMMY® winner launched Egypt Station with an intimate show at New York City’s Grand Central Station on September 7, which was live streamed as a YouTube Originals concert special–available for viewing HERE. The previous evening, McCartney visited “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and performed his Top 10 AAA hit “Come On To Me.”

Explaining the album’s concept, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’… I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.” The title is taken from the piece of art featured on the cover, which Paul painted in 1988.

Egypt Station has won praise from critics around the world. In a four-star lead review, Rolling Stone said, “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… (And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth.)” London’s Sunday Times, Q Magazine and MOJO also awarded the album four stars.

The New York Times’ Jon Pareles observed, “McCartney contemplates mortality and pain while still trying to offer love and strength.” TIME declared Egypt Station “Essential… a document of McCartney’s spirit, which is still irrepressible more than five decades after the Beatles made their debut.” NPR said, “This is his best album in maybe 20 years.” People noted, “Egypt Station is a tour through the imagination of one of our greatest artists — what’s not to love? It’s a celebration of all the things that make McCartney great: hope, exuberance, open mindedness and sweet melody. These days, we need all of these more than ever.”

GQ reveals “The Untold Stories of Paul McCartney” in the magazine’s October cover story. Writer Chris Heath observed, “Paul McCartney is driven….If you imagine that by now McCartney might have reached the point where he would relax and look back with cozy satisfaction on his life’s achievements… well, then you’re already very wrong about both who Paul McCartney is and who he ever was.” In this accompanying video, McCartney breaks down his most iconic songs. Additionally, Spotify has announced the release of Paul McCartney & Spotify Singles: Under the Staircase. Recorded at Paul’s intimate Abbey Road Studio 2 gig earlier the summer, Under the Staircase features live versions of songs spanning Paul’s entire career—Beatles, Wings, solo catalogue numbers plus some of the first live performances of Egypt Station material—plus a feature length concert film.

Sylvan Esso announce new single with fall festival dates

Announced on Sept. 7, Sylvan Esso have released their new single, “Funeral Singers,” which is a cover of Califone’s original, featuring the band’s recent tour openers, Collections of Colonies of Bees (Dead Oceans). Listen to the single here. The song was recorded at Wilco’s home studio, The Loft, in Chicago during their summer tour. “Funeral Singers” follows their last single “PARAD(w/m)E,” featured on their Grammy-nominated album, What Now, released on Loma Vista Recordings last year.

As indicated in a recent press release, the song began as a spontaneous collaboration with the two bands, it really shines a light on their deep and meaningful ties – Nick Sanborn was a member of Collections briefly and Chris Rosenau of Collections is a founding member of Justin Vernon’s Volcano Choir who brought Sylvan Esso out on their first tour. Marc Broussard shares new music video and announces tour dates

Critically acclaimed musician, Marc Broussard, has premiered his new music video, “Memory of You,” via Parade Magazine on Sept. 6, 2018. “Memory of You” is the latest single from Broussard’s latest album, Easy to Love. Broussard shares that the “song is about love so powerful that you couldn’t let go if you tried, so you find ways to relive moments and memories in the hopes that something about what you once had will come back.” The video was filmed in Louisiana, in a renovated old church, with Broussard’s wife co-starring. Conrad Sewell shares new single ‘Changing’

Singer-songwriter, Conrad Sewell, has toured with such pop superstars like Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5 and KYGO, receiving over millions of streams and receiving massive critical praise. Sewell’s voice was featured on KYGO’s single “Firestone,” which reached RIAA platinum status, over 1 billion streams, and was played to audiences at Coachella and Madison Square Garden.

Despite his success and touring the globe, Sewell explains that “life on the road had become a whirlwind in the past years. I was partying like a madman, and completely messed up a relationship I thought would last forever. When I started writing, I held nothing back.”

With his new single, “Changing,” he does just that. Sewell shares with us that “Changing” was written “right in the middle of the relationship I was in when I started to realize that I was ruining it, and that my actions were starting to affect her. I would come home and see her crying. She was always upset. She wasn’t the same person that she was when we first started dating. And I felt like it was because of me and the way I was acting. So it was really me apologizing for everything I’ve done. And telling her to never change for anyone because you’re perfect the way you are. Especially don’t change for me because I wasn’t worth it at the time.”

Erich Bergen debuts his new single "Running Through The Night," available on all digital and streaming platforms

Madam Secretary and Broadway Star, Erich Bergen, releases new single

Actor and musician Erich Bergen released his new single, “Running Through The Night,” today, Sept. 7. Bergen currently stars as Blake Moran on the hit CBS television show, “Madam Secretary,” and has just completed his his official Broadway debut, starring in Sara Bareilles’ Waitress The Musical, opposite Katharine McPhee this summer.

“This song is the most personal song I’ve ever released,” shares the native New Yorker. “In fact, I think it’s the most personal piece I’ve ever worked on…in any medium.” The single features values of strength, insight and inspiration.

“It’s a song about growing up” he continues. “I’ve found that becoming an adult means acknowledging that you’re often not where you thought you’d be, either in wealth, status or happiness. It’s good to accept reality, however that doesn’t mean you have to settle for it. The song is deeply personal and reflective, as it comes after Bergen’s battle with cancer, and is mentioned in the song’s lyrics.

“You never expect that ‘C’ word to be thrust upon you when you are in your mid-twenties, yet there I was. That was one of those things that no one tells you about. They warn you about taxes, they even warn you about death. But cancer? Nope.” Bergen’s cancer has been in remission for five years now, and he is determined to live his life to it’s fullest.

“No matter how many times I get beaten down, I continue to get up, brush the dust off, and keep running. I’ve got a lot of bruises, but I’m thankful for each one of them”.

Catch Bergen on the television screen this October for season five of “Madam Secretary,” and he’s also been Clint Eastwood’s Jersey Boys, as Bob Gaudio, reprising his role from the Tony-winning stage production. Bergen’s also seen in the 2018 indie film, Humor Me, co-starring Jemaine Clement and Elliot Gould.

The Ultra premiere and talk new single ‘Look Like Kylie,’ writing and creating music, more

Today, Sept. 7, the pop-rock band The Ultra have released their new and upbeat single, “Look Like Kylie.” Stream and purchase the single here.  This single is the follow-up to their previously released single, “Getaway,” from their upcoming EP. The band are currently on tour following their recent partnership with iHeart Media, Pepsi and Foxwoods Resort Casino. The guys have also been nominated for 4 New England Music Awards, including “Rock Act of the Year,” “Live Act of the Year,” “Song of the Year” and “Video of the Year.” The band is made up of Alec MacGillivray on vocals, Sam August on guitar, Shaq Druyan on drums and Pat Lyons, playing bass.

You guys came together by happenstance and by a series of events that brought you all together…what’s the ride been like?

The Ultra: It’s been a pretty wild ride so far. Since forming the group, we’ve fought through a really interesting set of adversities together which has really helped build a strong bond between us. Alec had jaw surgery in December that took him out of commission until April, Sam was earning his Master’s Degree at Harvard, Pat was working full time and Shaq was at Berklee, all while writing the debut EP, the current singles. We really wanted this band to happen, and we worked extremely hard to keep it together. I think that is something that is really important, knowing that every member of the group is willing to fight for the music.

Your new single, “Look Like Kylie” is out today! What’s the story behind it, and what influenced you guys to write it?

The Ultra: “Look Like Kylie” is, at its core, a song about being cool with who you are. Life isn’t perfect like it is on Instagram, and that’s fine. Life is imperfect and that’s the beauty of it. Just looking around seeing everybody glued to their phones, we just want to remind people to come back to earth and enjoy themselves.

You guys have a very busy schedule…how do you guys keep all of your other endeavors successful along with performing and creating music?

The Ultra: That’s the golden question I guess, right? I mean, we struggle with keeping it all together, just like everybody does in their own lives. I think the key is just being efficient with our time together, making sure we get done what we need to, which like I mentioned, we are DEFINITELY still working on.

You all have been writing and creating new music. Is a new album in the works?

The Ultra: Yeah, we are stoked! We are currently in the process of writing for the record, which we’re going to do with our current producer Courtney Ballard in LA. Coach is one of our favorite dudes on earth. Working with him is an absolute blast and, in our opinion, the songs sound the best they possibly can with him in the chair.

What’s next for 2018, going into 2019?

The Ultra: Next going into 2019, we are going to be pumping out new music. As a group, we are loving what we’re cooking up right now, and we’re really excited to share it with everyone as soon as possible.

Five Fun Questions

Who was your first concert, and do you have a current overall favorite?

Alec MacGillivray: First concert was Backstreet Boys I think? Best concerts I’ve recently been to were Harry Styles and U2.

What was your first album on vinyl, cassette and/or CD?

Alec: My Dad always had a kicking rotation of CD’s going in the car. Anything from Joe Strummer to Velvet Revolver or The White Stripes to George Straight. I got a really cool variety pretty early.

Which five albums or artists would you not want to live without? 

Alec: Contraband – Velvet Revolver, American Idiot – Green Day, Streetcore – Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, A Little South of Sanity (Live Album) – Aerosmith, and the fifth rotates, every day I’m feeling something different but those first 4 are the rocks for me.

What song can you not get enough of lately?

Alec: I have been absolutely ripping all things Oasis recently. Cannot get enough of it. The Oasis albums, Noel’s High-Flying Birds’ albums, and Liam’s new album too. Playing, listening, and singing them all the time right now.

Do you have guilty music or entertainment pleasure?

Alec: I don’t really get the whole musical guilty pleasures thing. If it’s good stuff, its good stuff, right? I feel like people are always saying boy bands or Taylor Swift or something like that as an answer here. One Direction have some amazing stuff, 1989 from Taylor Swift was fire, and good music is good music. It’s okay to say you like something you like, if you think something is dope, say so!

The Mutineers premiere single from new album

Portland’s The Mutineers debut single ‘Couldn’t Get Over You’ from new EP, Threshold

Portland, Oregon based rock husband-wife duo, The Mutineers, have released the first single, “Couldn’t Get Over You,” from their upcoming EP Threshold, available everywhere digitally on Sept. 14. They also are getting ready to head out on their national tour. The duo previously released the new video for their single “Drug For That,” filmed and directed by California-based photographer and visual artist Clovis IV. This track will be offered as a bonus track on a special Bandcamp edition of the EP.

The Mutineers are influenced by country and punk rock, and feature Brian Mathusek on guitar and Merry Young on drums, with the couple sharing vocal duties. The duo’s sound is influenced by musicians ranging from Bruce Springsteen and X, to Loretta Lynn and Elvis Presley.

“This was written specifically for Merry’s voice. I wrote the first draft of lyrics and she sculpted it to fit her style. Her world-weary delivery is the perfect backdrop to the story. The song contemplates the dual feelings of helplessness and power inside a co-dependent relationship,” says Brian Mathusek.

“The singer is struggling with self-confidence and self-consciousness. She can not decide if she has been too open or not open enough. I think everyone has someone in their life that they can’t stand, but also can’t live without, whether it’s a lover or a family member or a friend. Knowing when to cut someone off is very difficult. By the end of our song, the narrator has given up and given in to this cycle of love and hate, another lost soul.”

The duo’s EP was co-produced by Raymond Richards (The Parson Red Heads) at B-Side Recording Studio in Portland, and is the duo’s third EP and fifth release overall. Their debut EP, Tidal Wave, was released in 2008, followed by the Nihilisteria EP in 2008, and From the Dirge to the Dance LP in 2011.

The Mutineers will be touring nationally through the fall. In the past two years, they have given over 120 performances in 30 states. They have shared the stage with such notable artists as The Tallest Man on Earth, Langhorne Slim, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Larry and His Flask, The Devil Makes Three, The White Buffalo, and Murder by Death. When not touring, the couple run a graphic design and screen printing business, Mutiny Studios.

Dawes share poolside version of new single ‘Feed the Fire’

Today, Dawes debuted a poolside performance of their second single, “Feed The Fire,” featured on their recently released sixth studio album, Passwords. Lead singer and songwriter, Taylor Goldsmith shares that the song is “about telling myself that the next bit of validation/attention I’ve been looking for is all I finally need to feel ‘okay,’ while also being aware that to attain any sort of actual peace/enlightenment then I should be trying to shed myself of that need/egocentric thinking in the first place, and the juxtaposition therein … so that made us think, “Then why don’t we perform it in front of a beautiful SWIMMING POOL?!?”

Dawes begins their extensive North American tour, kicking off at St. Paul’s Palace Theatre on Sept. 7, with recently wrapping a series of dates opening for Jeff Lynne’s ELO, with shows at NYC’s Madison Square Garden and LA’s The Forum. Dawes’ upcoming tour, titled “An Evening With Dawes: Passwords Tour,” will features two full sets of music performed by the band with no opener. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here. Whose Hat Is This?

Whose Hat Is This? to release new album on Nov. 16

Announced today, Aug. 17, Whose Hat Is This?, a collaboration of Tedeschi Trucks Band members Tim Lefebvre, Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell, J.J. Johnson and Kebbi Williams, will release their second album, Everything’s OK, on Nov. 16. The album will release via Ropeadope.

The band began in 2015 when the bandmates were on a European tour with Tedeschi Trucks Band, and on a day off, decided to get on stage at a jazz club in Berlin, A-Trane, and decided to perform for fun, and all members felt that the needed to pursue this avenue further.

Whose Hat Is This? features Tim Lefebvre on bass (and has collaborated with classic artists like David Bowie (Blackstar), Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell and J.J. Johnson on drums, and Kebbi Williams on saxophone. The group released their self-released same title that was recorded at Berlin’s A-Trane. With their newest effort, Everything’s OK, it was recorded in 2017 at the 8×10 in Baltimore. The album also features Kokayi, along with producer and engineer Geoff Stanfield.

The band will tour in support of Everything’s OK in October and December of this year, with stops in New York and Washington, D.C., with a slew of shows in the South. Full tour dates are listed below.
