Author Ellen Meister‘s latest book, “The Rooftop Party,” takes place as the title’s name would suggest mostly on a “rooftop,” where the protagonist, Dana Barry, is the Shopping Channel’s star host, pitches her innovative idea to the new CEO. In doing so, she hopes to save the business, her job, and maybe her love life.
However, the new CEO backs her into a dark corner, so she decides to escape, grabs a drink, and on her way to the dance floor blacks out. She wakes up, realizing that the CEO is dead, having fallen from the roof; the questions come reeling in. Was he pushed, by whom if he was, and Dana’s looking like the likely suspect. Although she didn’t like how the CEO was coming on strong to her, she knows she’s not a killer, but is she sure, because she can’t recall what happened in the minutes leading up to the CEO’s fall. Therefore, she has to prove her innocence to everyone, along with her police detective boyfriend and to herself.
