Power-pop band The Jellybricks have released their new single “Corner Of My Eye” and officially announced the details for their next studio album, Some Kind Of Lucky. Due out Friday, October 4th via Wicked Cool Records, Some Kind Of Lucky will mark the band’s first album for Steven Van Zandt’s red-hot rock label. Lead single “Corner Of My Eye” is a pure rock ‘n’ roll banger that pairs searing guitar with lyrical yearnings of escaping the simplicity of day-to-day life; PRESS HERE to listen to the song on all DSPs.
“‘Some Kind Of Lucky’ is exactly how we feel to have the opportunity to record and release music with the support of Stevie Van Zandt, and to be a part of an amazing roster of talented artists at Wicked Cool Records,” shares The Jellybricks. “Wicked Cool is one of the few labels left that really nurtures its artists. They provide the freedom to let us be us, and completely support and guide us in the process. To be fans of Little Steven throughout our lives and now have the chance to work with him and his entire staff has been a dream come true for us; we are honored and humbled. We’re excited to unleash our new music out into the world and can’t wait for music lovers everywhere to hear it!”
Some Kind Of Lucky, the band’s seventh studio album, features The Jellybricks’ previously released Big Star-influenced road song “Brooklyn” and swirling call-and-response rocker “DOA,” which both grabbed Coolest Song in the World status on Van Zandt’s Underground Garage radio show earlier this year. Produced by The Jellybricks, the 12-song album was recorded at various studios on the east coast, including Van Zandt’s own Renegade Studios in NYC, and mixed by engineer Geoff Sanoff, whose credits include notable work with Bruce Springsteen, Fountains of Wayne and Dashboard Confessional. PRESS HERE to pre-order Some Kind Of Lucky, which is being released via Wicked Cool in partnership with The Orchard. See below for full tracklisting.
The Jellybricks will celebrate the release of Some Kind Of Lucky with select live shows along the east coast throughout the remainder of the year, including a New York City date on September 14th. See below for list of upcoming dates and visit www.thejellybricks.com for more information.
A rock group in the classic two guitars-bass-drums tradition, The Jellybricks (Larry Kennedy [guitar, vocals], Garrick Chow [bass, vocals], Bryce Connor [guitar, vocals], Tom Kristich [drums, vocals]) began as a vehicle for Larry Kennedy’s original songs in the mid-’90s but has steadily evolved over seven releases into a four-headed collaboration with all four members writing and singing lead. The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based quartet’s hook-laden songs owe debts of inspiration to decades of melodic rock ‘n’ roll from the ’60s British invasion through ’70s punk, ’80s college rock and ’90s alternative. Van Zandt began taking notice in recent years, elevating their 2012 track “Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide” to Coolest Song in the World Status. The song was later voted by listeners as “Coolest Song of 2012,” beating out tracks from Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, Jack White, and others. In the wake of heavy airplay on SiriusXM and syndicated terrestrial radio over the years, The Jellybricks signed to Wicked Cool at the dawn of 2019. Their mélange of styles is all in keeping with the band’s longtime ethos, as Kennedy explains. “The Jellybricks name was always intended to allow us to be as loud or as aggressive or as dark as we wanted, or to be as soft, as sentimental, or as silly as we wanted to be too. One of our early promotional tag lines was ‘Sweet like Jelly…hits you like a Brick!'”
