Today, Mighty Music recording artist Celleste has released the single and video for “We Go On (California Strong),” which is dedicated to the survivors and heroes of the recent California fires and those who lost their lives. Since January 2017, California has battled over 17,000 wildfires: More than 3.5 million acres of land have burned, over 33,000 homes and structures were destroyed, and 172 people died. The single and video was created by singer, songwriter and filmmaker Celleste, along with her partner, co-writer and music producer, Erik Dick. The goal with this single is to raise money to benefit rebuilding efforts across California.
The project’s story began in January 2018 when Celleste and Eric decided to follow their hearts and moved from Montreal to Malibu where they became drawn to the great people and creative energy surrounding them. During the recording of Celleste’s album, they were impacted by the Woolsey fires, as their home was in the direct path of the fire, and they were forced to evacuate. During this time, they felt the want and need to give back to their new community, thus the idea for a song and video was born.
“We feel blessed to have met so many beautiful and courageous people who have done nothing but shine in the face of adversity” said Celleste. “Witnessing the strength and resiliency of this community first-hand has been truly inspirational.”
Celleste began her professional career performing in arenas throughout Europe as back-up singer and dancer for recording artist Garou, who was managed by Celine Dion’s late husband, Rene Angelis. Afterwards, she was the face of a Canadian make-up company, and acted in numerous television commercials. When she met her partner and collaborator, Eric Dick, they formed their own record label, Mighty Music. Celleste has released three albums since 2010, and has received attention from iTunes U.S. and iTunes Canada, and her single “Sink or Swim,” has released over 200,000 streams.
“We Go On (California Strong)’s” proceeds will be funded through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, and will benefit their work across California, helping people rebuild their lives, and communities lost or severely damaged by wildfires and natural disasters.
