GO2 for Lung Cancer has launched a new public awareness campaign to stress the importance of lung cancer screening, especially for those at risk. The campaign features actor and director Tony Goldwyn, who has a personal connection to the disease after losing his mother to lung cancer. Goldwyn emphasizes that early detection through screenings can save lives, as lung cancer is often asymptomatic until it reaches an advanced stage.
“We are so grateful to Tony and the important, lifesaving work he does for GO2,” said Laurie Ambrose, president and CEO of GO2 for Lung Cancer. “Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. It’s a devastating disease that is curable if caught early – which is why we are encouraging people to talk with their doctor to learn if they are at risk and if they should be screened.”
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., but survival rates dramatically improve with early detection through low-dose CT scans. Goldwyn’s PSA aims to educate the public on the value of screening, hoping that more people will discuss their risks with their doctors. GO2, which provides support and resources for lung cancer patients, honored Goldwyn in 2024 for his contributions to raising awareness. The campaign builds on the organization’s mission to provide resources and improve survivorship through early detection and community support.
