Announced today, Nashville-based musician, Lauren Balthrop has released her new single, “Maple Tree,” from her debut album This Time Around, that will release everywhere on Sept. 21. “Maple Tree” will be available on all streaming platforms Friday, Aug. 17.
“Maple Tree” was written by Balthrop shortly after the 100 year old maple in her Brooklyn front yard as cut down. She shares that “it had caught the same disease the other maples on the block succumbed to. When tree was gone, we were left with an enormous stump that is now overgrown with wildflowers. My house just didn’t feel the same. I had looked out of my window onto that tree for over a decade. It was like I lost a friend and protector from the street below. And who knows, it might have been a trigger for my eventual move from Brooklyn to Nashville one year later!”
Featured on the song is Josh Kaufman on elecric bass, Peter Lalish on electric guitar and acoustic wurlitzer keyboard, Jason Bemis Lawrence on drums, Maia Friedman on backing vocals and Balthrop on nylon string guitar and vocals.
