Philophobia out on September 27
Amber Run have released the video for “Neon Circus,” the band’s third single from their forthcoming album, Philophobia (out September 27) – Watch below and PRESS HERE to check out DuJour’s premiere of the video. As Philophobia tackles the concept of human connection, “Neon Circus” serves as a call to action to embrace the moments that help create these connections, instead of the distraction and disconnection that often block our accessibility to it. Subtly reinforcing this concept, the video rotates between two alternate versions of the band: one being full-tilt and dialed-in and one that’s emotionless and disengaged.
The video’s director, Sam Kinsella, made a point to make sure the video portrayed “how we as people can act subdued, or conform when we know that people or society are watching us, instilling some kind of paralysis by fear; versus the fearless, expressive performance bursting with energy and colors.” He adds that “Neon Circus” “shows two contrasting perceptions – the mundane, subdued performance with static lights and surveillance-like camera angles, contrasted against the moving camera, lights and much more energetic performance.”
Throughout the album’s 11-song, soul-searching exploration of “the fear of falling in love,” Amber Run uses Philophobia to highlight that whether it be platonic, romantic, unrequited, unconditional or ugly, every person will experience some degree of love within their lifetime – PRESS HERE to pre-order the album, which includes “Neon Circus,” “Affection,” and the late-2018 release, “Carousel.”
It is that visceral yet philosophical exploration of songwriting that has allowed Amber Run to cultivate a steadfast fanbase, who have propelled the band to selling nearly 30,000 headlining tickets throughout the US and UK and to secure Gold Certification by the RIAA for their single “I Found.” The band boasts over 250 million global streams since their formation in 2012.Those fans will be rewarded with their longest North America tour to date when Amber Run returns in October 2019 for a 16-city run with back-to-back shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles — their first California appearances.
