With COVID-19 having significant impact on the arts; The Fratellis provide support to the music community at a time when it needs it the most
Announced on November 17 in London, United Kingdom, multi-platinum, award-winning Scottish rock band The Fratellis, has officially announced Milos Collins as the winner of their global music competition in association with Vype Worldwide. As a part of Vype’s Cube of Inspiration campaign, the competition looked to give one unknown music artist or band a platform to accelerate their path to stardom, and The Fratellis chose Milos as their top pick.
As the winner of the competition, Milos Collins has been awarded a once-in-a-lifetime recording session at the LA studio where The Fratellis recorded Costello Music. Collins will re-record his winning single, “Friends” at Sunset Sound Studio 3 and the track will be mixed by Tony Hoffer. It will be released worldwide by Cooking Vinyl Records, longtime label to The Fratellis on December 11. Collins will also have the opportunity to work with The Fratellis themselves, including one-on-one time with the band through an online masterclass, and an opening slot on a virtual upcoming Fratellis gig. The single will also be accompanied by a music video and a behind-the-scenes style video with The Fratellis which will be shared across Vype and The Fratellis’ social channels.
“We’re proud to be working with Vype to give a new artist the chance to work with some of the most talented professionals in the music industry…and with our group! Getting our first proper single released through a big label was a huge deal for us, so it will be exciting to help Milos achieve this milestone and hopefully see him go on to have a long career in music,” says The Fratellis.
Milos Collins is an artist and producer originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Finding comfort in creating music during these difficult transitional times, Milos is inspired by the likes of The Beatles, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mac Miller. While studying photography and fashion, he started sharing his tracks online and realized people were enjoying his work, so would often pull all-nighters just to find time to make more beats. Now, a full-time musician, his keen interest in the visual arts is still evident in the striking videos and artwork that accompany his music.
The Fratellis are a multi-platinum Scottish rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2005, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli, bassist and backing vocalist Barry Fratelli, and drummer and backing vocalist Mince Fratelli. The Fratellis recently announced their sixth studio album titled Half Drunk Under a Full Moon, to be released on April 9, 2021, alongside the launch of a UK and European tour. The album features the single, “Six Days In June,” which released earlier this year. A theatrical blast of pop joy, “Six Days In June” swings on brass, kick-drum and features Jon Fratelli’s trademark falsetto vocals. Listen to “Six Days In June” here.
