Sway Wild consists of the indie-folk duo, Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer, along with longtime friend, Thom Lord. The trio came together following a two-month sailing voyage through the remote anchorages of British Columbia. Their self-titled debut album will release worldwide on September 13.
Sway Wild recently debuted their lead track and single from the forthcoming album, “Comin’ and Goin'” and features Fer’s voice and electric guitar, with McGraw and Lord’s worldbeat additions. Infused with gospel harmonies by Birds of Chicago, accompanied with piano and horns, “it’s a song about impermanence…how all things come and go, as do we,” says Fer.
Sway Wild was recorded in Portland, Oregon at The Hallowed Halls, a historic Carnegie Library, by engineer Justin Phelps (Cake, Galactic, Bob Weir). An impressive cadre of the band’s friends and heroes brings the songs to their full, frenzied potential. Birds of Chicago and Sean Hayes provide guest vocals, members of MarchFourth add the irresistible energy of a full horn section, and cellists Skip VonKuske (Portland Cello Project) and Anna Fritz, along with Anna Tivel on violin.
