Every puzzle requires several pieces to come together, in order to reveal the complete image at hand. For the past year, Val Astaire has been building and sharing the singular identities of several songs through sonic and visual representation. The time has now come for them to co-exist together and lead listeners on a comprehensive journey throughout the album that is Fever Dreams.
This release weaves artistic inspirations, personal discoveries, current world commentaries, and more together under our unique collective of art. While the singles told their individual stories up until now, they band together in order to create a new, boisterous adventure for anyone listening. From distinctive 80’s synth to prominent 90’s angst; there is a part of Fever Dreams for everyone to attach themselves to and to form their own relations with.
As Val Astaire celebrates his first full-length release with ESI Records and for the world to experience, he has also been working on breathing a unique life into the songs from Fever Dreams. With live entertainment currently paused, Val Astaire, Kyle Blamy (guitar), Christopher Curran (bass), and Ali Ajemian (drums, Shallow Pool), joined forces at Reclaim Studios for a special series of live music videos, shot by James Morano. The latest delivers with “Sweet Medicine.”
” Sweet Medicine,” is framed as a love song that quickly shifts narrative by the first pre-chorus, revealing as a call out to big pharma and the ever so present opioid epidemic that so many people face today at the hands of companies and organizations that keep you sick for profit. It is imperative that we speak up about these types of issues and hold accountable the ones who are responsible, using any platform that we can.”
