Along with his choir, who are decked out in red, black, and white, indicative of their strong performance. “He’s Worthy” is a classic gospel single made famous by the late Dr. Jonathan Gree & The Cathedral of Faith Choir, reminding followers of the Faith that God is still on the throne and always worthy to be praised. Even towards the end of the video, everyone is cheering and singing praises.
Not only are you a singer and songwriter, but you’re also a pastor, community activist, and award-winning producer. What drew you to become a pastor, using your talents, and ultimately giving back to your community?
Todd Curry: All of this draws back to the way that I was reared. My father, the late Bishop C.L. Curry, instilled such a strong work ethic, moral integrity, and passion to help others. That is what really propelled me to focus on those things. Being a pastor was truly a call from God. After being a PK (preacher’s kid) for 28 years, I consistently stated that I would NEVER be a pastor, but God had another plan for my life. I also learned that I should never bury any talents that I have been blessed to receive. When I die, I want my life to speak for itself. In the meantime, I want to pass on everything that was afforded to me, to the next generation and beyond.
Speaking of singing and songwriting, I love your new single and music video for “He’s Worthy.” Can you share with us the story behind it?
Todd: I grew up listening to this gospel classic. The late Dr. Jonathan Greer & The Cathedral of Faith Choir released this song in the late ’80s. I absolutely LOVED it. I fell in love with the music more than anything. The bass line was incredible and being a young musician, I gravitated to the song. I searched out and was able to get the mechanical license to redo the song and was ecstatic when I received permission. I wanted to keep the integrity of the song intact, so I didn’t change a lot with it at all.
I love the infectious optimism in the music video. What was filming it like?
Todd: It was amazing! This particular video was filmed during our Release Experience for our project, “Standing on The Rock”. Our videographer John Cook, of CK Productions has worked with us before, and they captured the essence of the entire day and the song itself to perfection. We were just being us. There really wasn’t a plan or reason, just us enjoying the day and being grateful for the chance to put out music to the masses.
You and your wife, Lady A, opened Curry’s Haven, LLP in 2008 to house, train, support, and service special needs children and adults. Can you share with us why you began Curry’s Haven, what you all have done since its inception?
Todd: I am a behavioral management specialist and have worked in the behavioral/mental health field for more than 28 years. I have done almost everything in the field in one capacity or another, from fieldwork to office management and supervision. The opportunity was presented for us to begin our own company and we had to accept it. It is truly our call. I took a step back from strictly the behavioral management side to begin working with special needs children and adults. We wanted to be the voice of advocacy for those youth and adults that couldn’t communicate for themselves. We work with our clients, or our babies as we call them, in the community and in their homes. We help them with personal care and work on certain goals with them so that they can have a better quality of life. Our company is now a six-time Nationally Accredited Company and we are still growing to be able to reach more consumers in the future.
What do you hope people take away from your music during their time isolation and listening?
Todd: I want people to immediately feel joy. I want to bring a little life back to them and while tapping their feet, realize that there is a greater power that is bigger than their problems and issues. I want people to understand that in spite of what they are going through, God is still worthy and if we focus and concentrate on Him, everything will be alright.
If you weren’t a pastor, what do you think you could be?
Todd: I would definitely still be a writer, musician, and producer of course. But outside of that, I would be a football coach. I absolutely love the game and love to breakdown the intricacies of the game itself. I also would love to be able to continually mold the hearts and minds of young people through sports.

My favorite since then, after all of the ones that I have ever been to, has to be the Winans Family Reunion Tour. Or…the most recently was a group by the name of Snarky Puppy in DC. I had a BALL there!
