Musician Terry Robb is such an accomplished guitar player and musician, that he has an award named after him; titled the Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar, since he has won the award so many times, the Cascade Blues Association finally made it official and attached his name to the award permanently. Says Robb, “It is a great honor, and I have much gratitude.” Robb has also been heralded by such magazine superlatives as Rolling Stone, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Player and Vintage Guitar, among many others as one of the nation’s finest acoustic guitarists. His familial history with the love of guitar began with his family and he shares that “my parents were Jazz fans and my brother had R&B records. A lot of Blues music and Blues musicians were being rediscovered at that time.”
He’s also toured the country with some of the biggest and brightest in music, including Buddy Guy, Steve Miller and Steve Fahey. Robb recalls a memory with Guy, and explains that “the first time I played with Buddy Guy, he was really on that night. Also playing with my heroes Canned heat. Johnny Shines sat in with me once. I listened to him when I was a kid, he was the real deal.” Robb’s latest video for his single”How A Free Man Feels” displays his exceptional talent performing the song while in the recording studio, and he shares that it was his idea because “I wanted a live sound.” In all, Terry Robb has released fifteen acclaimed albums with his most recent Confessin’ My Dues, and he feels that he has evolved musically and lyrically from his very beginning claiming that “I think I’m able to pull together all of my influences on to a recording and make it sound like a personal statement.”
